The National Farmers’ Day is a day celebrated on the first Friday of December every year to honour our gallant Farmers and Fishers. The event recognizes the vital role Farmers and Fishers play in the nation’s socio-economic development. The organization of these memorable organization was spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture under the sponsorship of the Mion District Assembly.
This year’s farmers’ day was celebrated on Friday, the 1st of December, 2023 at the Salankpang D/A Primary School Park under the theme “DELIVERING SMART SOLUTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE FOOD SECURITY AND RESILIENCE”. The occasion was ornamented by the Honourable District Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel K. Mahama, the District Coordinating Director, Heads of the Department and Staff of the Central Assembly, Heads of the Decentralized Departments and Honorable Assembly Persons. Similarly, in attendance were the Traditional Authority, Religious Leaders, Past Award Winners, Farmer Based Organizations and representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations among others.
