Mion District Assembly collaborates with School for Life under the USAID Ghana Strengthening Accountability in Ghana Education System (SAGES) to revamp the operations of the District Education Oversight Committee (DEOC).

The School for Life is part of a Consortium led by Care International implementing the 5 year project (SAGES) funded by the USAID in partnership with the Government of Ghana.

The project is aimed at improving primary education service delivery through institutionalizing accountability in the Ghana primary education system.

The Hon. District Chief Executive, Mahama N.K. Samuel, chairperson of the DEOC meeting at the District Assembly on 19th April,2023 expressed his delight for the partnership and stated the Assembly’s commitment ” the Assembly will work closely and ensure that we are not only receiving support but are worthy partners bringing onto the table complementary support for the success of this project meant for our people”

The formation of DEOC as enshrined in the Pre-Tertiary Education Act of Ghana 2020 (Act 1049) provides an oversight and accountability for the provision of efficient delivery of quality primary and Pre-Tertiary education in Ghana.

The Committee is a 13 member, composed of various individuals of professional backgrounds including education, teacher unions, health, social welfare, management, traditional authority and religion.

Representing the School for Life at the meeting were Mr. Ayuba, Head of Programs and Partnership and Mr. Imoro Abdulai, Regional Project Manager.
